To identify and understand the necessity for safe, timely and efficient helicopter operations. Successful completion of this course will enable the participant to work as part of the helideck team. This course has been prepared and is conducted in line with the following standards and references; ICAO Standards, Cap 437 (UK), Oil and Gas UK – Guidelines for the Management of Aviation Operations, HSE (UK) Offshore helideck Design Guidelines, OPITO Helicopter Landing Officers Hand Book, & the OPITO Helicopter Refueling Hand Book.
On completion, participants will be able to demonstrate competence in the theory and practice of the following:
- Helideck operations – guidelines, standards & regulation
- Helideck preparation for landing and take-off
- Helicopter safety procedures
- Passenger co-ordination
- Introduction to refueling operations
- Dealing with emergencies
- Cargo/freight handling
Participants are required to pass an assessment of practical skills and a written or verbal examination of theory.
This course is conducted over one (1) day.
METHOD OF TRAINING
The course can be conducted at a venue suitable for the theory and practical instruction onshore or offshore on the vessel/rig that the participants will be working on.
